Waterborne underfloor heating is a complete heating system which often replaces regular wall-mounted radiators. Waterborne underfloor heating is a complete heating system which often replaces regular wall-mounted radiators. Not only does waterborne underfloor heating give the comfort of a warm floor, it also heats the entire room in a pleasant way.

Pipes with hot water circulating through them are installed under the floor in order to heat it. It is the heat emitted from these pipes that heats the floor. The pipes are installed in concrete or aluminium plates which allows the heat to spread evenly across the entire floor.

Under the right circumstances, underfloor heating gives effective energy consumption. However, it is the comfort that people enjoy the most. It is cosy and pleasant to walk on warm floors. The reason why underfloor heating feels so nice is that the heat is generated at a low temperature spread over a large area.

Technically speaking, you can say that the heat released through radiation, in comparison with the heat released through air movement, is increased with underfloor heating. Heat radiation can (unlike air movements) transport heat immediately to the surrounding areas and distribute the heat more evenly in the room.

Most of the heat from normal radiators is released through air movements. The hot air rises to the ceiling where it is not really needed, while the cold air flows just above the floor.

People are most content with cold air in head height and warmer air at the feet. For that reason, underfloor heating is an ideal heat distributor which creates a delightful feeling in any home.

Advantages of underfloor heating

•By quickly heating the air that flows down on the floor, underfloor heating often prevents sharp falls in temperature.
•Underfloor heating greatly reduces air movements and dust circulation in the house, and there will no longer be any need for the dust-collecting radiators on the walls.
•Underfloor heating works well under all types of flooring.
•Underfloor heating operates at a low temperature which works well together with energy efficient heat sources such as heat pumps, pellet boilers and solar panels, or a combination of these.
